We are seeking a Senior Python & Databricks Developer with strong hands-on skills, an independent mindset and a focus on high-quality delivery.\nThis role covers data pipelines, APIs, calculations and integrations supporting risk accumulation, catastrophe modelling and exposure management use cases.\nThis position is planned as an initial one-year assignment.\nYour role\nAs Senior Python & Databricks Developer, your main responsibilities will involve:\nDesign, build and deploy Python-based data products, services and applications.\nDevelop robust ETL pipelines in Databricks for risk, exposure and modelling data.\nTranslate complex business rules and calculation logic into clear, maintainable and tested code.\nBuild APIs and integration services for real-time, near-real-time and batch data use cases.\nDesign and optimise data models, Delta tables and Lakehouse workflows.\nImprove pipeline and service performance, scalability, reliability and cost efficiency.\nImplement data validation, monitoring, logging, alerting and automated testing.\nTroubleshoot complex data and production issues, identify root causes and deliver sustainable fixes.\nApply software engineering practices, including Git, CI/CD, code reviews and technical documentation.\nWork closely with data engineers, architects, technology teams and business stakeholders.\nShare knowledge and build reusable components to reduce dependencies on key individuals.\nYour role\nAs Senior Python & Databricks Developer, your skills and experience will ideally include:\nStrong professional experience developing production-grade Python solutions.\nStrong hands-on experience with Databricks.\nExperience building ETL/ELT pipelines, data applications or data products.\nStrong SQL skills and experience working with structured data.\nExperience with Apache Spark, Delta Lake and Lakehouse architecture.\nAbility to independently analyse complex or unclear requirements and shape practical solutions.\nStrong understanding of software development best practices, including Git, CI/CD, automated testing and DevOps.\nExperience improving performance, reliability and maintainability of data solutions.\nStrong problem-solving skills, an ownership mindset and sound technical judgement.\nExcellent written and spoken English.\nGood to have\nExperience designing and building RESTful APIs.\nExperience with Pandas, NumPy and geospatial libraries such as GeoPandas, Shapely or H3.\nExperience with Azure services, including Azure Storage, Azure Functions and Azure API Management.\nKnowledge of Databricks Workflows, MLflow, Model Serving or Feature Serving.\nFamiliarity with data-quality frameworks, observability and production support.\nExperience in catastrophe modelling, exposure management, insurance or financial services.\nWe offer\nCompensation for roles at Zurich depends on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific role, skill set, level of experience, and subject to applicable law.
