Specialist, Learning & Development

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide timely updates to reporting managers on project progress, departmental initiatives, key developments, and potential risks.
• Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate learning and development programmes for Operations and other designated business functions.
• Deliver engaging learning experiences through both classroom and virtual platforms, incorporating theory, practical application, and experiential learning methodologies.
• Design, develop, review, and continuously improve training materials, learning resources, assessments, and programme content to ensure relevance, effectiveness, and alignment with business objectives.
• Manage end-to-end training administration, including participant communication, scheduling, attendance tracking, training evaluations, and post-training follow-up.
• Develop and maintain training records, dashboards, trackers, and reporting tools to support operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
• Facilitate capability development programmes for employees across various operational levels, including leadership development initiatives where applicable.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather business requirements, validate content accuracy, and ensure learning materials reflect the latest operational standards, policies, and business updates.
• Coordinate external learning programmes, certifications, and professional development initiatives with vendors, institutions, or regulatory bodies.
• Monitor learning effectiveness by collecting feedback, analysing outcomes, and recommending continuous improvements to learning solutions and delivery methods.
• Undertake special projects, cross-functional initiatives, and any other duties as assigned.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Initiate, plan, coordinate, and manage assigned learning and development projects from planning through implementation.
• Review, validate, and ensure the accuracy, relevance, and quality of learning materials, training content, and related resources.
• Provide subject matter expertise and consultation to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of learning solutions.
• Ensure assigned projects and deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and in accordance with company policies, standards, and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support learning initiatives and drive successful project execution.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma or Degree in Hospitality or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of working experience in a related field.
• Experience in F&B, food safety, and/or operations; strong background in specialty coffee preferred.
• Proven experience delivering training programs, facilitating group discussions, and developing structured training programmes and materials.
• Relevant certification (e.g., SCA, AST, TTT) is an advantage.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex information and engage diverse learners.
• Ability to analyse training data and effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback.
• Proficiency with learning technologies (LMS), virtual meeting platforms, and multimedia production tools.
• Ability to manage multiple training projects including non-coffee related projects.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and industry best practices.
• Computer literate with good command of written and spoken English and Malay; familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Highly motivated, energetic, reliable, and a valuable team player while able to work independently.
• Confident, proactive, able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Possess own transport and willing to travel.
• Passionate and patient in teaching and guiding others; fosters cooperative working relationships.
