We are looking for a Full Stack Developer with hands-on experience building applications in the financial trading or capital markets domain. The core of this role is backend design and shipping robust, high-performance APIs and data pipelines in Python or Node.js that power real-time trading workflows. Frontend capability in React is a strong advantage but not a hard requirement; what matters most is your ability to understand and build systems where data accuracy, low latency, and reliability are non-negotiable. You've worked in environments where order management, market data feeds, or financial reporting are the product, and you bring that domain context to every technical decision you make.
The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
Backend Python or Node.js (Primary):
- Design, build, and maintain RESTful and WebSocket APIs serving trading data, order management, and portfolio operations in Python (FastAPI or Django REST Framework) or Node.js (Express or Fastify).
- Integrate with exchange APIs, broker connectivity layers, and market data providers (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Zerodha Kite, Alpaca, or equivalent), handling reconnection logic, rate limits, and data normalisation.
- Implement order lifecycle workflows: placement, modification, cancellation, execution reporting, partial fills, and reconciliation against exchange confirmations
- Build data ingestion and transformation pipelines for tick data, OHLCV bars, trade history, and reference data at scale.
- Implement authentication, RBAC, input validation, and audit logging for all trading operations in line with security and compliance requirements.
- Optimise API and service performance: profiling, query tuning, connection pooling, and async patterns to meet latency SLOs during market hours.
- Write comprehensive unit and integration tests; maintain high coverage on financial calculation and order logic.
Frontend React + TypeScript:
- Build and maintain trading UI components: order entry forms, order book displays, P& L dashboards, and position trackers in React with TypeScript.
- Consume WebSocket streams to render live price feeds and order status updates with smooth, lag-free UI behaviour.
- Integrate charting libraries (TradingView Lightweight Charts, Recharts, or D3.js ) for candlestick, volume, and analytics visualisations.
- Collaborate with dedicated frontend engineers on shared components, design system adherence, and performance optimisation.
Architecture and Reliability:
- Design for resilience: circuit breakers, graceful degradation, retry logic, and clear fallback states for exchange connectivity failures.
- Implement caching strategies using Redis for market data, session state, and reference data to reduce latency and database load.
- Participate in system design discussions, contribute to architectural decisions, and document technical choices with clear rationale.
- Support on-call rotations and respond to production incidents with urgency; trading systems require near-zero downtime during market hours.
Collaboration and Domain:
- Work with quant analysts, traders, and product managers to translate business requirements into precise technical specifications.
- Conduct thorough code reviews with a focus on correctness, performance, and financial data integrity.
- Support QA with edge-case test scenario design: market open/close windows, circuit breakers, partial fills, and rejection handling.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of backend development experience in Python (FastAPI, Django, or Flask) or Node.js (Express or Fastify) in production environments.
- Demonstrable experience building or maintaining systems in the financial trading, capital markets, fintech, or investment management domain.
- Strong understanding of REST API design, WebSocket protocols, and real-time data handling patterns.
- Familiarity with trading domain concepts: order types (market, limit, stop-loss), order book mechanics, P& L calculation, position management, and trade lifecycle.
- Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, PostgreSQL and MongoDB or Redis, including schema design for time-series financial data.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Strong grasp of async programming patterns, asyncio in Python or async/await in Node.js for handling concurrent data streams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Frontend experience with React and TypeScript, able to own UI tasks independently or review frontend PRs with domain context.
- Experience integrating FIX protocol, SEBI-regulated broker APIs, or exchange-level connectivity.
- Knowledge of message queues and event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ) for high-throughput trade event processing.
- Exposure to algorithmic or quantitative trading systems, backtesting frameworks, or risk management tooling.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements relevant to trading platforms (SEBI, MiFID II, or exchange-specific rules).
- Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
