It takes controlling and significant stakes in mid-market businesses in Europe and North America, and its largest holding is the Dutch discount retailer Action. The group was founded in 1945 as the Industrial and Commercial Finance Corporation to fund British businesses, is headquartered in London and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 index.
