CarMax is the largest used-car retailer in the United States, buying, reconditioning and selling used vehicles through its stores and online, and arranging auto financing through CarMax Auto Finance, with headquarters in the Richmond, Virginia area. Founded in 1993 as a unit of Circuit City and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it runs stores from coast to coast together with reconditioning centers and wholesale vehicle auctions.
