Enviva is a producer of wood pellets used as a low-carbon alternative to fossil fuels in power and heat generation, industrial processes, chemicals and advanced biofuels, with corporate headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. Founded in 2004, it describes itself as the world's largest producer of sustainable wood pellets, sources wood fiber mainly from the US Southeast, runs its operations headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, and has a UK office. It hires pellet mill, chip mill, control room and mobile equipment operators, vessel, rail and barge loadout crews, mechanical and electrical technicians, quality technicians, shift supervisors, reliability engineers and sustainability GIS analysts.
