Overview
GCOOS, the Gulf of America Coastal Ocean Observing System, is the regional association of the US Integrated Ocean Observing System for the Gulf, collecting and sharing ocean and coastal data, hosted at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. It brings together principal investigators, member organisations and data users to support work on coastal hazards, hurricanes, ocean acidification, marine heatwaves, healthy ecosystems and marine operations, with resources for educators, researchers, resource managers and industry. Funded mainly through NOAA, it runs a data portal that pools observations from buoys, gliders and coastal stations across the Gulf states.
