Gerdau is a Brazilian steel producer headquartered in São Paulo that makes long steel products such as rebar, merchant bar, beams, special bar quality steel and wire, largely from recycled scrap in electric arc furnaces. Founded in 1901 and listed in São Paulo and New York, it runs mills and metals recycling operations across Brazil, North America and other Latin American countries, with a large US and Canadian business.
