Overview
The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is the US Federal Bureau of Investigation's central portal for reporting internet-enabled crime, run from Washington. Since 2000 it has collected complaints from victims and businesses about online fraud, ransomware, business email compromise, account takeover, tech support scams and government impersonation, and it publishes public service announcements, industry alerts and annual reports. Complaints are analysed and referred to federal, state, local and international law enforcement agencies, and the center states that it never contacts victims for money.
