Mozilla Corporation scores A on the Alion truth index (A is best, E worst), measured over 16 open roles re-checked against its own hiring board: 0% look like ghost listings, 31% have gone stale and 0% are the same role posted again. Its roles close in a median of 45 days. It measures how much of what this employer publishes turns into a real, finite search - not the employer as a workplace. How the index is computed
Overview
Mozilla Corporation is the commercial subsidiary of the non-profit Mozilla Foundation, created in 2005 to develop and distribute Firefox and related products. It is unusual in structure: profits flow back to the foundation rather than to shareholders, and the great majority of revenue has historically come from a single search default agreement, most recently with Google. Headquartered in Mountain View with a largely distributed workforce, it has been trying to reduce that dependence through advertising products, a virtual private network, the data removal service Monitor and its Anonym advertising measurement business.

Products
Anonym
An advertising measurement business acquired in 2024 that attributes campaign performance without exposing individual user data. It is an attempt to compete in advertising technology on privacy terms rather than to withdraw from advertising entirely.
mozilla.org
Monitor
A service that alerts users to data breaches involving their accounts and requests removal of their data from broker sites. It converts the organisation's privacy positioning into a paid product rather than only a stance.
mozilla.org
Mozilla VPN
A subscription virtual private network built on the Mullvad network and sold under the Mozilla brand. It is part of the effort to build subscription revenue that does not depend on a search default agreement.
mozilla.org
Gecko Engine
The browser engine underneath Firefox, one of only three independent engines still in active development. Maintaining it is enormously expensive, but abandoning it would leave the web dependent entirely on engines controlled by Google and Apple.
mozilla.org
Firefox
The open source web browser and the organisation's central product across desktop and mobile. It is the only major browser not controlled by a company with an operating system or advertising business to protect, which is the substance of the independence argument it makes.
