Overview
Natera is an American diagnostics company founded in 2004 that built its business on cell-free DNA testing, analysing fragments of DNA circulating in blood to answer questions that previously required an invasive procedure. Its products span prenatal screening, carrier testing, organ transplant rejection monitoring and oncology, where its Signatera test detects residual cancer DNA after treatment and can indicate recurrence months before imaging would. Headquartered in Austin and listed on Nasdaq, its economics depend heavily on payer reimbursement decisions, which have historically been the difference between a test being widely used or barely used at all.
