Shelter House is a nonprofit organization based in Fairfax, Virginia, that provides crisis intervention, emergency shelter, housing programs and supportive services to people experiencing homelessness and survivors of domestic violence in Fairfax and Loudoun counties. Founded in 1981 by volunteers from local faith groups, it now runs seven shelter facilities, including the Kennedy Shelter, Fair Ridge and the Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter, and served 4,496 people in its last reported year. It hires case managers, residential coordinators, hotline specialists, cooks, maintenance staff and program directors.
