Overview

SPAR is a part-time, remote research fellowship that pairs aspiring AI safety and AI policy researchers with professionals working on risks from advanced AI. Each round runs for about three months of mentored research and ends with a Demo Day featuring posters, talks and a career fair with organisations such as METR, Redwood Research, GovAI and MATS, and the Fall 2026 round had more than 250 mentors. Mentees range from undergraduates to mid-career professionals, committing between 5 and 40 hours a week, and research from the programme has been accepted at ICML and NeurIPS.
