Tako builds an answer engine API that grounds AI applications and agents in authoritative, licensed data as well as the web and returns cited, structured answers. Instead of plain text it returns structured knowledge cards such as charts, tables and maps, drawing on data partners that include S&P and Stats Perform, and its visual cards have been integrated into Perplexity's answer engine. Founded in 2024 in San Francisco by former Amazon leader Alex Rosenberg and former Paradigm engineer Bobby Abbott, it raised a $5.75 million seed round led by A* and Abstract Ventures.
