The TON Foundation supports The Open Network, a sharded blockchain originally designed by the founders of Telegram and later revived by an independent community. The network is closely integrated with the Telegram messenger, giving it direct access to a very large consumer audience for wallets, payments and mini-applications. The foundation funds core development, validator decentralisation and ecosystem grants rather than operating commercial products itself.
