Universal Materials Incubator

Universal Materials Incubator, known as UMI, is a Japanese venture capital firm specializing in materials and chemicals technology. It invests in startups and carve-outs built on advanced materials, chemistry and related manufacturing technology, often helping to commercialize research from Japanese corporations and universities. The firm was founded in Tokyo in 2009 with backing from the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan and major chemical companies.
