Overview
Vitastor is a distributed software-defined storage system developed from scratch in Russia. It pools ordinary servers and disks into a scalable fault-tolerant cluster and is built for very low latency, with about 0.1 ms response under replication and roughly 0.2 ms with erasure coding, in a codebase of around 60,000 lines. The system targets infrastructure and platform service providers and supports block, file and object access for virtual machine and container storage.
