Overview
ZeroEntropy built retrieval models and a search API for retrieval-augmented generation and AI agents working over large unstructured document sets. Its stack covered ingestion, preprocessing, embedding and reranking, and its zerank-1 reranker was reported to improve first-stage search such as BM25 or OpenAI embeddings by up to 28 percent. Founded in San Francisco in 2024 by Ghita Houir Alami and Nicholas Pipitone and backed by Y Combinator, it raised a $4.2 million seed led by Initialized Capital in 2025 and was acquired by Notion in July 2026.
