Twenty-Six Defense is a US defense technology company headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, supplying night vision, airborne systems, effectors and seekers, maritime, border protection and sustainment solutions to the US armed forces. Formerly known as Elbit Systems of America, it builds products such as the ENVG-B enhanced night vision goggle and operates manufacturing and engineering sites in Roanoke, Talladega, Merrimack, Charleston, Boca Raton and Tucson. It hires assemblers, quality inspectors, manufacturing, electrical and supplier quality engineers, engineering technicians, contracts administrators and accounting specialists.

Job Summary:

The Staff Electrical Engineer is a senior technical contributor within SlingWorks, one of Elbit America’s most advanced engineering teams developing next-generation targeting and mission-system technologies. In this role, you will lead complex board-level electrical designs, contribute to system architecture decisions, and drive subsystem-level electrical integration while remaining hands-on throughout the full hardware lifecycle. You will solve challenging engineering problems, guide the development of advanced PCBAs, integrate processors, sensors, and high-speed interfaces, and collaborate closely with other senior engineers to co-develop robust, high-reliability electrical architectures. You will mentor junior engineers, lead design execution on major programs, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, mission-critical hardware.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Lead the design and development of complex electrical and board-level hardware, including schematic capture, component selection, and interface definition

Contribute to electrical architecture decisions across digital, analog, mixed-signal, and power domains

Integrate processors, sensors, high-speed digital interfaces, and support electronics at the subsystem level

Support and help define FPGA electrical integration strategies (no RTL required)

Direct PCB layout activities to ensure signal integrity, EMC/EMI robustness, manufacturability, and compliance

Lead board bring-up, electrical debug, validation, and root-cause analysis in lab environments

Develop and implement test plans, validation strategies, and debug methodologies for program hardware

Drive resolution of electrical issues across prototype and low-rate production builds

Lead electrical design for SWaP-constrained systems, including power distribution, power integrity, efficiency, and thermal considerations

Collaborate closely with mechanical, systems, and embedded software teams to ensure effective system-level integration

Participate in architecture reviews, technical trade studies, and design reviews

Support DFM/DFT approaches and help transition designs from prototype to manufacturing

Perform and interpret electrical analysis, modeling, and simulation to reduce technical risk

Provide mentoring, technical guidance, and constructive design reviews for junior and mid-level engineers

Work collaboratively with other Staff and Senior Staff engineers to ensure cohesive system-level solutions

What Success Looks Like:

Delivers robust, producible board-level designs with minimal redesign cycles

Acts as a strong technical mentor and reliable senior contributor within the team

Demonstrates sound engineering judgment in system-level tradeoffs and design decisions

Communicates effectively across disciplines and helps drive clarity in complex technical discussions

Consistently elevates hardware quality, reliability, and performance across programs

What You Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering (a master’s preferred)

Typically, 12+ years of experience in electronic design, hardware development, and system integration

Proven ability to lead major design efforts and work collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines

Strong experience with schematic capture tools (such as Mentor Graphics Xpedition) and electrical analysis/simulation tools (such as LTSPICE)

Familiarity with PLM or ERP tools

Experience working in high-reliability, fast-paced environments supporting mission-critical systems

Required training: ESD and safety training (can be completed within the first year)

Experience with aerospace/defense, MIL-STD requirements, or DO-254 practices is a plus
