Junior Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities

?Database Monitoring & Alerting

Monitor Oracle databases for availability, performance, and capacity using tools like Zabbix, OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager), or similar

Respond to alerts and notifications related to database health and escalate issues to L2/L3 teams when required

Monitor tablespace usage, alert logs, and trace files on a daily basis

?Incident & Service Request Management

Handle first-level incidents and service requests related to Oracle databases

Log, track, and update tickets in the ITSM tool (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy)

Ensure timely resolution or escalation of issues within defined SLA timelines

?Backup & Recovery

Monitor and verify daily RMAN backup jobs

Ensure backup success/failure reports are reviewed and escalated if required

Assist in basic recovery activities under L2/L3 guidance

?User & Access Management

Create, modify, and disable Oracle database user accounts as per approved requests

Manage user roles, privileges, and password resets

Ensure access provisioning follows the defined security policies

?Routine DBA Activities

Perform start/stop of database instances as per change requests

Apply standard patches under the guidance of L2/L3 DBAs

Assist in database refresh and cloning activities

Maintain and update database documentation and runbooks

?Performance & Space Management

Monitor and report on tablespace growth and disk space utilization

Raise alerts for space threshold breaches and coordinate resolution

Perform basic performance checks on long-running queries and sessions
