Group Manager, Platform Engineering
At 3Shape, we are transforming digital dentistry through software, cloud technology, and modern engineering practices. To support our continued growth, we are looking for a Group Manager to lead our Platform Engineering organization, consisting of the Developer Experience (DevEx) and Cloud Platform teams.
This is a leadership role with broad impact across our engineering organization. You will help shape how software is built, secured, deployed, and operated across 3Shape, working closely with engineering leaders, architects, product teams, and security specialists to create a modern engineering platform that enables teams to move faster while maintaining reliability, security, and quality.
The role
As Group Manager for Platform Engineering, you will be responsible for the leadership, direction, and development of two strategic teams: Developer Experience and Cloud Platform.
The Developer Experience team focuses on improving engineering productivity through better development workflows, build systems, CI/CD capabilities, source control practices, development environments, and internal tooling. The Cloud Platform team provides the shared cloud infrastructure, platform services, and foundational capabilities that product teams depend on to build and operate cloud-based solutions.
The role spans both areas, but we are particularly looking for someone with strong experience in Developer Experience, build systems, CI/CD platforms, engineering productivity, and developer tooling. Experience with platform engineering, cloud practices, engineering security enablement, and AI-assisted software development is highly valuable.
The teams spans 13 people in Denmark and Ukraine, and you will be people manager for the 7 people in Denmark.
What you'll do
You will lead engineers and technical experts across multiple locations and help create an environment where teams can build, test, secure, deploy, and operate software efficiently through self-service platforms, automation, and clear engineering standards.
A key part of the role is to define and evolve the developer experience across 3Shape. You will reduce friction in the software development lifecycle, improve engineering productivity, and establish feedback mechanisms that help us continuously improve how software is delivered.
You will also work with the Cloud Platform team to evolve shared cloud infrastructure and platform services, including areas such as infrastructure automation, container platforms, cloud governance, observability, reliability engineering, and shared platform capabilities.
In addition, you will support secure-by-default engineering practices and help teams adopt effective approaches to software quality, vulnerability management, dependency governance, compliance automation, and secure delivery. You will not be expected to own every security initiative directly, but you will be an important partner in making secure engineering practical for development teams.
Platform Engineering also plays an important role in support and enablement. You will help ensure that developers can get effective guidance, support, and helpdesk-style assistance when using shared platforms, tools, and engineering services.
You will establish and track meaningful metrics that help measure platform adoption, engineering productivity, operational excellence, and the impact of Platform Engineering investments.
You will work closely with engineering leaders, Product Creation leadership, and architects to shape the long-term vision and roadmap for Platform Engineering. You will manage and prioritize the Platform Engineering backlog, balancing strategic initiatives, platform investments, operational needs, and engineering feedback to ensure alignment with company objectives.
Finally, you will help drive responsible adoption of AI-powered developer tooling, including practices that enable teams to use systems such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and similar tools effectively and safely.
What you bring
You are an experienced engineering leader who enjoys developing people, building strong teams, and helping engineers do their best work. You combine technical understanding with the ability to create alignment, set direction, and drive change across a complex engineering organization.
You have solid experience with modern software delivery practices and a strong understanding of CI/CD, build systems, developer workflows, source control, engineering productivity, and internal developer tooling. You communicate clearly, collaborate well with stakeholders, and are comfortable working in agile, cross-functional environments.
It is an advantage if you have experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, platform engineering concepts, Internal Developer Platforms, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes or container platforms, security and quality tooling, dependency scanning, or AI developer enablement initiatives.
