Abbott is an American healthcare company founded in 1888 by a Chicago physician who began making precise doses of alkaloid medicines for his own patients. It now operates four large businesses: diagnostics, including the point-of-care and molecular testing that scaled during the pandemic, medical devices spanning cardiac rhythm, structural heart, neuromodulation and continuous glucose monitoring, nutrition brands such as Similac and Ensure, and established pharmaceuticals sold mainly in emerging markets. The company is headquartered in North Chicago, Illinois, and separated its research-based drug business as AbbVie in 2013.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Role Overview

We are seeking a visionary and commercially astute leader to head the EMEA Centre of Excellence for Retail Sales, a $500M+ portfolio spanning both offline and eCommerce channels. This high-impact role will shape and execute the commercial strategy across Europe, Africa, and emerging global markets, with a mandate to double revenue and elevate sales excellence across the region.

As the architect of our retail transformation, you will lead a cross-functional team to drive strategic execution, customer engagement, revenue growth, and market expansion. You will also play a pivotal role in global commercial excellence initiatives across ANI’s international markets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial Strategy & Sales Excellence

  • Lead the design and execution of regional commercial strategies, including 4Ps planning, performance management, advanced sales training, and new product launches.
  • Champion customer-centric excellence through joint business planning, negotiation strategies, and best-in-class retail execution.
  • Drive revenue growth management initiatives including pricing optimisation, gross-to-net analysis, and ROI-based investment planning.
  • Optimise distributor and merchandiser performance through robust analytics and KPI frameworks.
  • Leverage retail data and insights to inform strategic decisions and drive continuous improvement.

2. Growth Acceleration & Market Expansion

  • Act as a growth catalyst, partnering with local market leaders to build data-driven business cases that unlock new distribution channels and deepen market penetration.
  • Lead commercial readiness for a robust innovation pipeline across Ensure, PediaSure, and Glucerna, ensuring successful launches in-store and online.
  • Spearhead geographic expansion into France, Benelux, and other high-potential markets, with a focus on eCommerce acceleration and omnichannel excellence.

3. Global Collaboration & Special Projects

  • Represent EMEA in global ANI commercial excellence workstreams, contributing to international initiatives in eCommerce, gross-to-net optimisation, and sales capability building.
  • Lead special projects to address business challenges or capitalise on emerging opportunities, providing strategic guidance and hands-on support to local markets.

Candidate Profile

Experience & Expertise

  • Progressive experience in retail, eCommerce, or commercial leadership roles within fast-paced, growth-oriented environments.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing commercial strategies that drive measurable business impact.
  • Deep understanding of digital commerce, retail operations, and how to scale them across diverse markets.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategic decisions.
  • Experience in healthcare, nutrition, or FMCG sectors is preferred.

Leadership & Skills

  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and a bias for action. Exceptional cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities with a track record of delivering complex initiatives on time and within budget.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving change in matrixed, global organizations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proficient in business tools and analytics platforms (e.g., Excel, Power BI, CRM systems).

Why Join Us?

This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-growth, high-visibility function at the heart of our EMEA strategy. You’ll work with passionate teams, shape the future of retail nutrition, and make a meaningful impact on the health and lives of millions.
