Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

Senior Systems DV Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is responsible for the development, execution, and approval of system-level automated tests for design verification of products before commercial release. The person in this position will work closely with other SDETs, systems engineers, manual test engineers, and software engineers to ensure effective processes, cross-functional collaboration, and high quality of the company's products.

Responsibilities:

• Review, update, leverage, and extend existing tools and test automation frameworks to develop new automated tests for Android, iOS, and cloud applications to validate system requirements and support other testing needs.
• Maintain existing automated tests to match requirements changes, changes across releases, and new understanding of system performance.
• Oversee and guide automated tests, record results, and document issues using standard tools and processes during formal test cycles.
• Execute and report dry runs of new and updated automated test cases.
• Oversee and guide the performance of manual, scripted, and exploratory testing to support new feature development and regression testing efforts, grow domain expertise, and support manual system test needs.
• Lead collaborative work with systems, development, and test engineers to develop test automation procedures and protocols for design verification. Includes obtaining approval from all stakeholders and ensuring no gaps in testing across levels.
• Lead collaborative work with systems, development, and test engineers to identify and correct issues.
• Perform a systematic review of automated test cases to ensure that both typical use and edge cases are properly covered (happy path, alternate path, negative path, etc. ).
• Develop protocols for verification and validation of test tools.
• Write reports and log issues for executed verification tests.
• Participate in the planning and execution of technical project work.
• Create and document novel and robust test methodologies and provide feedback and recommendations for product/design changes.
• Conduct and encourage frequent formal and informal communication with team members to ensure full engagement and efficient operation.
• Analyze design changes implemented after execution of verification and validation to determine regression testing required.
• Provide technical consulting and mentoring in areas of expertise to early-career members of the DV Test Team
• Ensure compliance with Insulet quality policies, procedures, and practices.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years total experience developing automated tests and frameworks for mobile, web, and cloud testing.
• 3+ years of experience in testing medical devices in a multidisciplinary project team environment, or an advanced degree and 2+ years of experience

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

• Strong software skills are required, including use of Python, Java, JUnit, or TestNG.
• Strong knowledge of HTTP protocols (REST/SOAP) and API testing.
• Knowledge of Android or iOS technology stack.
• Strong knowledge of SCM tools (Git, Bitbucket).
• Experience working with CI tools (Jenkins, Bamboo).
• Previous experience working in the medical device industry (FDA/ISO regulated) is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience working in an Agile-based software development environment is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with story design and the use of Atlassian Tools (JIRA, Confluence, and Bamboo) in the software development process.
• Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Test engineering training and/or certification is a plus.
• Strong technical judgment with extensive technical leadership skills.
• Ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas, and knowledge to other individuals and teams.
• Experience in directing associates and leading small cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with system-level testing of software-based medical devices.
• Travel Requirements (if applicable): Up to 10% of the time.
