Job Summary

As a Procurement Specialist - Direct Materials is responsible for strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier management, and supply continuity of production materials required for manufacturing operations. The role manages end-to-end procurement activities for castings, machined components, bought-out parts, raw materials, and other direct material categories while ensuring quality, delivery, cost competitiveness, and supplier performance. The position works closely with Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, Supply Chain, and Global Category teams to support business growth, localization initiatives, and new product development projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

• Manage sourcing activities for direct material categories including castings, machined parts, fabricated components, and bought-out items.
• Execute RFQs, commercial evaluations, supplier negotiations, and sourcing decisions.
• Identify and onboard new suppliers to support capacity expansion, localization, and risk mitigation.
• Develop and implement category and supplier strategies aligned with business objectives.

Supplier Development & Performance Management

• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure long-term supply continuity.
• Monitor supplier performance for Quality, Cost, Delivery, Responsiveness, and Sustainability.
• Lead supplier performance review meetings and drive corrective actions.
• Support supplier development, capacity assessment, and risk management initiatives.

New Product Development (NPD) & Localization

• Support NPD projects through early supplier involvement, technical-commercial evaluations, and sourcing recommendations.
• Identify localization opportunities to improve competitiveness and reduce supply chain risks.
• Coordinate supplier qualification and requalification activities with Quality and Engineering teams.

Operational Procurement

• Manage Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, contract agreements, and procurement transactions within SAP/S4HANA.
• Ensure timely material availability to support production requirements and customer commitments.
• Track supplier deliveries and proactively resolve shortages, delays, and supply risks.
• Support inventory optimization and working capital improvement initiatives.

Cost Management & Value Creation

• Drive annual cost reduction, productivity, and value engineering initiatives.
• Negotiate commercial terms, payment terms, tooling costs, and long-term agreements.
• Deliver measurable savings and cost avoidance opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Planning, Logistics, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
• Support resolution of supplier quality issues and delivery escalations.
• Participate in sourcing reviews, project meetings, and supply risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, ToA requirements, and ethical sourcing practices.

Background

• 6-10 years of experience in Direct Material Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience in procurement of castings, machined components, fabricated parts, and industrial bought-out components.
• Proven track record in supplier development, supplier negotiation, cost reduction, and sourcing project execution.
• Experience supporting New Product Development (NPD), localization, and supplier qualification programs.
• Hands-on experience with SAP/S4HANA procurement processes.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline.
