AI Engineer

About the Role:

We're looking for an engineer that can design and build AI agents, integrations, and safeguards that make this product useful and dependable.

Total Experience: 7 - 10 years

What you'll help build:

- AI agents that can place and answer phone calls

- WhatsApp messaging so users can assign tasks and receive updates

- Email assistance, including drafting, sending when authorized, and following up on correspondence

- Call processing that turns conversations into emails, summaries, spreadsheets, and database records

- Research workflows that gather information and provide useful recommendations

- Integrations with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

- Task workflows that let an agent carry out multi-step instructions across connected apps

- Authorized purchasing workflows, with user-set limits, approval steps, and clear transaction records

- Reliable recordkeeping, access controls, and audit history for actions taken by the agents

What we're looking for:

- Experience building and deploying AI agents, LLM applications, or workflow automation

- Strong backend development skills in Python or Node.js

- Experience integrating APIs, databases, and cloud services

- Experience with voice AI, telephony, speech-to-text, or text-to-speech

- Experience with WhatsApp Business Platform or similar messaging integrations

- Experience with Microsoft Graph or Microsoft 365 integrations

- Understanding of secure permissions and approval workflows for sensitive actions, such as sending messages or making purchases

- Ability to turn product requirements into working features and communicate progress clearly

- AWS experience and experience building an end-to-end SaaS product are strong advantages.

Core skills:

- AI agents and LLMs: Build agents that understand instructions, choose tools, complete multi-step tasks, and report results.

- LLM integration: Work with APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Amazon Bedrock; use tool/function calling, structured outputs, and conversation history.

- Backend development: Strong Python or Node.js skills; build APIs and services that connect the agents to other systems.

- Workflow orchestration: Coordinate multi-step tasks, handle errors, retry safely, and keep users informed about progress.

- Database design: Store user accounts, conversations, tasks, contacts, call records, documents, and audit history.

- Voice AI and telephony: Build inbound and outbound calling; integrate speech-to-text, text-to-speech, call routing, and call summaries.

- WhatsApp integration: Work with the WhatsApp Business Platform or an approved provider to receive instructions and send responses.

- Email and calendar integrations: Draft and manage correspondence, follow up, and schedule meetings through APIs.

- Microsoft 365 integration: Work with Microsoft Graph and tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Document and spreadsheet generation: Create and update practical business documents, spreadsheets, summaries, and presentations.

- Research and recommendations: Retrieve information from approved sources, summarize findings, cite or link sources, and explain recommendations.

- Cloud deployment: Deploy and operate the application securely and reliably. AWS experience is useful for your project.

Security and reliability skills:

- Access controls and permissions: Ensure agents can only use accounts and data they are authorized to access.

- Approval workflows: Require confirmation for sensitive actions, such as sending certain messages or making purchases; support user-set spending limits.

- Secure payment integration: Use a payment provider or tokenized payment method; protect card data and record authorized transactions.

- Privacy and call handling: Protect personal information and build in appropriate call disclosure, recording, and data-retention controls.

- Testing and monitoring: Test agent behavior and integrations, track failures, and make it possible to review what the agent did.

- Production engineering: Use version control, documentation, deployment practices, and maintainable code.

Helpful experience:

- Building a SaaS product or MVP from the ground up

- WhatsApp Business API, Microsoft Graph, telephony, or payment-provider integrations

- AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and Connect

- RAG or knowledge-base search, vector databases, and retrieval systems
