Job Summary

The EHS Specialist supports the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with company policies, local regulatory requirements, and international standards. The role contributes to maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible workplace through inspections, training, incident management, compliance monitoring, and employee awareness initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • EHS Management Systems & Compliance
    • Support the implementation and maintenance of EHS policies, procedures, and management systems.
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and company EHS requirements.
    • Support the maintenance and continual improvement of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
    • Monitor and follow up on EHS action plans, corrective actions, and improvement initiatives.
  • Inspections, Audits & Monitoring
    • Conduct routine workplace inspections and participate in EHS audits to identify potential hazards and compliance gaps.
    • Report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and environmental concerns in a timely manner.
    • Track corrective and preventive actions to ensure effective closure and sustainability.
  • Training & Awareness
    • Coordinate and support EHS training programs, awareness campaigns, and safety initiatives.
    • Maintain training records and ensure proper documentation of attendance and competency requirements.
    • Deliver or support EHS induction programs for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Incident Investigation & Reporting
    • Participate in the reporting and investigation of incidents, near misses, occupational injuries, and environmental events.
    • Assist in identifying root causes and developing corrective and preventive actions.
    • Prepare investigation reports and monitor the implementation of agreed action plans.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate EHS records, reports, databases, and compliance documentation.
    • Ensure EHS documentation is properly controlled, updated, and readily accessible.
    • Support the preparation of monthly EHS reports, dashboards, and KPI performance tracking.
  • Contractor Safety & Permit-to-Work Monitoring
    • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with site EHS requirements and safe work practices.
    • Support Permit-to-Work (PTW) processes through verification and compliance monitoring.
    • Participate in contractor safety evaluations and field inspections.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Response
    • Support emergency preparedness programs, drills, and response exercises.
    • Participate in regular inspections of emergency equipment and emergency response facilities.
    • Assist in maintaining site readiness for emergency situations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Pharmacy, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Experience Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of experience in EHS, Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and principles.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • EHS-related training or certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH IGC, ISO 45001/14001 Awareness) are an advantage.
  • Internship or practical exposure within manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments is preferred.
