Product Manager

Actionstep is a pioneer in the development and sale of software-as-a-service (SaaS) products, specializing in the delivery of Legal Practice Management software. We are a fast growing, dynamic business with a global customer base of more than 50,000 and a team of over 300 in the USA, Australia, UK, Canada and New Zealand.

THE PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE

As a Product Manager, you will maintain assigned products, manage ongoing product planning, requirements, development of new features, functionality and integrations. The role is ultimately tasked with the delivery of unique value-based products based on customer insights. You will also take responsibility for the creation of a product vision and strategy, product governance and senior stakeholder communication.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

In this role, you will be accountable for…

- Build and launch successful products in a SaaS B2B software company, working directly with and influencing/inspiring enterprise customers, and serving multiple user and business personas.

- Build and bring to market AI-powered features and products, applying hands-on experience taking AI/ML-driven capabilities from concept through go-to-market.

- Own the delivery of the strategic product direction based on clear commercial rationale and robust insights.

- Coordinate feature launches, including orchestrating testing, documentation, training rollout sequencing, customer communication, and adoption measurement.

- Generate, gather, and organize ideas for features and improvements for the product, prioritize feature requests, and maintain part of the roadmap.

- Design product enhancements and communicate designs orally, through diagrams, and through appropriate product artifacts.

- Demonstrate success producing product management artifacts such as opportunity briefs, prioritized roadmaps, product specs, user stories, wireframes, and customer-facing docs.

-Achieve stretch goals in innovative and fast-paced cross functional teams.

- Understand technical elements and communicate them to those who don’t.

- Lead, motivate and develop engineering & design team members.

- Demonstrate strong leadership and proven ability to operate successfully in a collaborative, matrixed global organizational structure.

- Follow industry trends through exploring complementary products, meeting with partners, and investigating innovative technologies.

- Contribute to company-level product planning by developing concepts into specs, evaluating them, and participating as we expand on our strategic product roadmap.

- Work with product research to conduct data gathering, competitive reviews, customer analysis, market-sizing as required.

- Perform any other duties within the scope of the key responsibilities as directed.

Relationship Management:

- Build and maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external parties ensuring transparent, proactive and effective communication always.

- Attending and proactively contributing to customer, partner and internal meetings with the view to add value in a constructive manner.

- Lead and actively participate in customer discovery sessions, beta programs, and user research with legal professionals to deeply understand their workflows and pain points.

- Represent Actionstep at customer-facing events such as webinars and industry conferences, building relationships with legal professionals and translating their feedback into product improvements.

Professional Development:

Being a thought leader both within Actionstep but also in the wider industry.

Staying abreast of industry best practice patterns, products and technologies and assisting in process improvement activities as required.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

- 5+ years of SaaS product management experience building enterprise products.

- Proven track record of successfully bringing products to market & delivering product features that are aligned with company goals and strategy.

- Proven ability to bring AI-powered products to market that go beyond generic AI features, with a real understanding of what makes an AI capability defensible and hard to copy.

- Expertise in driving product development processes using agile methodologies.

- Experience in product management tools such as Azure DevOps, Notion, Pendo, Miro.

- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, experience working closely with design and UX teams, and proven ability to create exceptional user experiences.

- Strong track record of driving successful product launches within strict timelines.

- Ability to dig into business or technical problems and find pragmatic solutions.

- Strong project management skills; able to identify needs, break down objectives into key results & initiatives, deliver value continuously with short and long-term initiatives, and move multiple related & unrelated workstreams forward in parallel.

- A profound understanding of product lifecycle management, user experience design, and market analysis.

- Hands-on experience with product roadmap creation, stakeholder collaboration, leading cross-functional teams, and data-driven decision-making processes.

- Working experience in creating, prioritizing and recommending epics and features.

- Ability to work in a remote environment - travel will be part of the role to successfully engage with the team and participate in cross functional meetings/working sessions.

- Working knowledge of application performance and analytics.

- Experience researching, defining and documenting market, product and platform requirements.

- Strong understanding of customer needs, pain points, and experience with similar technologies.

- Track project progress and initiatives in alignment with the roadmap.

Desirable:

- Exposure to the legal industry (working with lawyers and law firms) is an added bonus.
