About the Product:
Our client is a B2B technology company looking for an experienced infrastructure engineer to support and improve its production environments.
This is a hands-on role for someone with strong Linux expertise who enjoys solving complex systems problems, automating operational work, and taking responsibility for service reliability. You will work closely with engineering colleagues to turn technical requirements into infrastructure that is secure, efficient, and straightforward to maintain.
About the Role:
You will manage Linux infrastructure across physical and virtual environments, supporting its full lifecycle - from initial setup and configuration to maintenance, troubleshooting, and recovery.
Alongside day-to-day operations, you will improve automation, strengthen security practices, and help the team make informed decisions about infrastructure design and deployment. The role requires practical engineering judgment, clear communication, and confidence working with changing priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and improve the availability, performance, and security of production Linux systems.
Develop automation for infrastructure deployment, configuration, maintenance, and recovery.
Investigate incidents and resolve issues involving servers, operating systems, connectivity, and storage.
Manage virtualized and containerized environments, selecting configurations appropriate to operational requirements.
Apply access controls, system hardening, and resource separation to support secure service delivery.
Collaborate with engineering teams and external service providers on infrastructure changes and maintenance.
Improve monitoring, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
Participate in incident response and the team’s on-call rotation.
Required Competence and Skills:
8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, SRE, or similar roles.
Strong experience administering Linux in production, including physical server environments.
Ability to diagnose operating-system and infrastructure issues beyond the application layer.
Experience using automation to manage multiple servers consistently.
Proficiency in Python and practical experience with Terraform.
Working knowledge of virtualization, containers, networking, and storage.
Experience maintaining systems remotely and restoring service following failures.
Understanding of infrastructure security, access management, and workload separation.
Ability to own technical work from planning through implementation and ongoing support.
Clear English communication and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Nice to Have:
Experience supporting resource-intensive or performance-sensitive applications.
Background in hosting, data centers, cloud infrastructure, or managed services.
Familiarity with hardware selection, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
Experience working across multiple infrastructure environments or service providers.
