Adyen is a Dutch payments company founded in 2006 by a team that had already built and sold an earlier payment processor, and which set out to replace the layered arrangements most merchants used with a single platform. It combines gateway, risk management, acquiring and settlement on one system built entirely in house, which lets large international merchants take payments across markets and channels without stitching together local providers. Headquartered in Amsterdam and listed on Euronext, it serves enterprise customers including Uber, Spotify, eBay and McDonald's and has extended into point-of-sale terminals and embedded financial products.
