AECOM is an American infrastructure consulting firm that became independent in 1990 through a management buyout from the energy group Ashland, and is now one of the largest design and engineering organisations in the world. It plans, designs and manages delivery of transport systems, water and wastewater infrastructure, buildings, environmental remediation and energy projects for public agencies and private developers across roughly one hundred and fifty countries. Headquartered in Dallas after relocating from Los Angeles, the company sold its self-perform construction and government services arms to concentrate on higher-margin professional services rather than carrying construction risk.

“Having worked over 20 years, in both consultancies and council, my experience working at AECOM has been refreshing and motivating” - Dominique Keirens, Sector Manager - Water Infrastructure, SEQ

Balancing the world’s need for safe, reliable water with protecting this critical natural resource for the future requires a deep understanding of interconnected systems.

We work with clients across the entire project life cycle - from initial planning studies through final construction and operations and maintenance services - on both traditional and alternative project-delivery options (design-build, public-private partnerships and financing).

With a robust design and construction division, AECOM offers a unique perspective on designing projects that are fully constructible.

  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

The qualities that help you thrive:

  • Relevant tertiary degree (essential)
  • Experience in the wastewater treatment industry at technical leadership level
  • Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, technologies and environmental regulations in Australia and New Zealand
  • Proficiency in process engineering, data analysis and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and project partners.

Why you’ll love working with us

  • Flexible work arrangements, including alternative start/finish times, part-time, job-sharing and hybrid work options
  • Purchase up to 6 weeks additional annual leave per year
