The role assesses each request, determines the appropriate stakeholders and approved information sources, coordinates the response process, and prepares clear, accurate, and appropriately detailed communications.

This role sits at the intersection of Corporate Strategy, Finance, Supply Chain, HR, IT, and AFL Division and Business Unit leadership. The analyst is expected to exercise judgment regarding priority, response depth, confidentiality, escalation, and cross-cultural communication while minimizing disruption to leaders and subject matter experts. The position is designed as a developmental role that builds a broad understanding of AFL and its relationship with Fujikura and can lead to opportunities within Corporate Strategy, Business Operations, or other AFL functions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inquiry Intake, Triage, and Prioritizatio n

  • Serve as the primary intake point for assigned Fujikura inquiries and recurring information requests.
  • Clarify the business question, requested output, audience, timing, sensitivity, and decision context.
  • Classify requests by urgency, complexity, recurrence, and level of leadership involvement required.
  • Determine whether the request can be answered through approved data, prior responses, standard reports, or self-service tools.
  • Maintain visibility into open requests, owners, milestones, dependencies, and due dates.

2. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Identify and engage the appropriate subject matter experts and data owners across AFL.
  • Define the specific input required from each contributor and avoid unnecessary or duplicative requests.
  • Coordinate review and validation of responses, particularly where information is sensitive, novel, or judgment-based.
  • Follow through on open items and resolve gaps, conflicts, or unclear ownership.

3. Response Development and Quality Control

  • Synthesize inputs into concise, accurate, and audience-appropriate responses.
  • Adapt communication style, context, and level of explanation to support effective engagement with Fujikura and other global stakeholders.
  • Apply consistent structure, terminology, level of detail, and supporting evidence across responses.
  • Confirm that information comes from approved sources and that assumptions, limitations, and open items are clearly identified.
  • Prepare executive-ready summaries, briefing materials, presentations, and written responses as needed.
  • Conduct a final quality review for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and tone before release.

4. Escalation and Governance

  • Recognize requests that require functional leadership, executive judgment, legal or compliance review, or direct discussion with Fujikura.
  • Escalate material risks, conflicting positions, sensitive information, or requests outside the team’s authority.
  • Maintain appropriate records of approvals, source information, and final responses.
  • Support development and application of response protocols, decision rights, service levels, and escalation criteria.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify repeat questions and recurring deliverables that can be standardized, automated, or converted into dashboards or self-service capabilities.
  • Partner with the Knowledge & Insights Analyst, AI Engineer, and Data Analyst to improve tools, workflows, and source access.
  • Capture lessons learned and help refine templates, playbooks, FAQs, and reporting methods.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, supply chain, communications, data analytics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Approximately 2-5 years of experience in strategy, business operations, program coordination, financial or operational analysis, consulting, or a similar cross-functional role.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to turn complex inputs into clear, concise, and executive-ready responses.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple requests, stakeholders, and deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Sound judgment regarding prioritization, confidentiality, escalation, and level of detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify missing information and reconcile inconsistent inputs.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and consistency.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

Preferred

  • Experience working across multiple corporate functions or business units.
  • Exposure to executive communications, board materials, parent-company reporting, or global organizations.
  • Working knowledge of Japanese business culture, communication norms, and consensus-based decision processes.
  • Professional proficiency or fluency in Japanese, written and verbal, is a significant advantage but is not required.
  • Experience using business intelligence, workflow automation, knowledge-management, or AI-enabled research tools.
  • Interest in developing a broad understanding of AFL’s businesses, operations, financial drivers, and governance processes.

Core Capabilities

  • Enterprise coordination and stakeholder management
  • Executive writing and synthesis
  • Cross-cultural communication and global stakeholder awareness
  • Structured problem solving
  • Judgment and escalation discipline
  • Data and source validation
  • Process improvement and service orientation
  • Learning agility and organizational curiosity

Measures of Success

  • High percentage of assigned requests completed accurately and on time.
  • Reduced need for repeat outreach to leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Consistent, well-supported responses with clear approvals and source traceability.
  • Effective escalation of sensitive or judgment-based matters.
  • Increasing reuse of prior responses, standard reports, and self-service capabilities.
  • Positive feedback from Fujikura stakeholders, AFL contributors, and Corporate Strategy leadership.
  • Communications are appropriately tailored to Fujikura stakeholders, reducing misunderstanding and unnecessary follow-up.

Career Development

The role provides broad exposure to AFL’s businesses, functions, leadership teams, and relationship with Fujikura. A successful analyst will build enterprise judgment, cross-functional relationships, and a working knowledge of how AFL operates, creating a foundation for advancement within Corporate Strategy or movement into Business Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, a Division, or a Business Unit.
