Electrician

An Agritalent client, a leading agri-processor, seeks an Electrician to be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting electrical systems, equipment and industrial machinery.

The role requires the use of electrical drawings, schematics, manuals, hand tools, power tools and testing equipment to identify and resolve faults. The Electrician will also operate and maintain electrical equipment according to established procedures, complete routine maintenance tasks, and recommend improvements to reduce breakdowns and improve plant reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, install and troubleshoot plant electrical systems and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and respond to electrical breakdowns.
• Identify root causes of electrical and equipment failures and implement effective solutions.
• Wire machines and electrical panels according to applicable standards.
• Support basic instrumentation, VSD and SCADA troubleshooting.
• Complete maintenance records, job cards and handovers accurately.
• Participate in risk assessments and ensure strict compliance with safety procedures.
• Support production to minimise downtime and ensure reliable plant operation.
• Maintain good housekeeping and a safe working environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / equivalent
• Red Seal Electrician Trade Certificate
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience
• Experience with industrial electrical systems and machinery
• Basic knowledge of instrumentation, VSDs and SCADA will be advantages
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Good understanding of safety, risk assessments and lockout procedures
• Able to work at heights and perform physically demanding work
• Valid ability to work shifts, overtime, standby and callouts
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Strong attention to detail, accountability and time management
