A Snapshot

As the Senior Design Engineer (Electrical) in the Product Management team, you will report to the Associate Principal, Product Management, and work closely with the broader Customer, Solutions, Design and Innovation teams. Your role will be pivotal in:

  • Providing electrical engineering expertise to support the development and evolution of AirTrunk’s data centre reference design products across APAC.
  • Ensuring consistency and quality in electrical design standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders including customers’ technical teams to co-develop and refine AirTrunk’s electrical offerings.
  • Presenting technical updates, innovations, and learnings to the wider AirTrunk business.
  • Supporting the APAC Design and Development teams to effectively deliver data center projects and drive innovation and challenge industry norms in electrical systems and infrastructure.

Your Day to Day

  • Conducting feasibility analyses, studies, and reviews of new electrical technologies for integration into AirTrunk’s reference data centre product designs.
  • Managing and updating key technical documentation related to electrical systems, ensuring alignment with evolving product requirements, other disciplines and OSE specifications.
  • Providing technical storytelling and clear communication to update business stakeholders on the electrical product roadmap, customer requirements, and research outcomes.
  • Interfacing with direct-procured electrical equipment suppliers and ensuring seamless integration with reference designs.
  • Interfacing with key customers and liaise on all critical aspects of electrical design
  • Assessing the commercial implications of electrical engineering decisions and supporting value engineering initiatives.
  • Contributing to internal technical learning and strategic projects in the electrical domain.
  • Supporting front-end planning for site selection and masterplanning, with a focus on innovative electrical design concepts.
  • Advising on compliance with relevant codes, standards, and sustainability goals for electrical systems.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing project needs, priorities, and environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, with at least 8 years of relevant industry experience and at least 5 years in data centre or mission-critical environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting major data centre projects in a client-side, consultancy, or contractor role, with a focus on electrical systems.
  • Understanding of multi-disciplinary building services design, with deep expertise in electrical systems.
  • Experience with Building Information Management (BIM) and digital design tools.
  • Ideally, experience working for a data centre operator and exposure to hyperscale design and cloud infrastructure in the APAC market.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
  • Strong decision-making skills and accountability.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver effective presentations on electrical systems to customers, peers, and management.
  • Leadership acumen to support and influence multi-disciplinary teams (internal and external).
