Python Developer - AI Agents, Open WebUI & MCP (Full-Time - Remote)

• Job Context

We are looking for a hands-on Python Developer to join our remote development team. The ideal candidate will have strong practical experience in Python, FastAPI, AI Agents, Open WebUI (OWUI), and MCP (Model Context Protocol).

This is a development-focused position. We are not looking for a high-level software architect. We need a reliable developer who can understand technical requirements, build practical solutions, integrate existing systems, work with self-hosted AI services, and deliver reliable, production-ready code.

The selected candidate will work on AI-agent automation, Open WebUI extensions, MCP servers, external system integrations, and self-hosted AI deployments. Experience with Microsoft Project and OpenProject integrations will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve Python applications and AI-agent automation.
• Build and extend Open WebUI using Tools, Functions, Pipelines, and OpenAPI tool servers.
• Develop MCP servers and integrate them with Open WebUI through Streamable HTTP or MCP proxy solutions.
• Develop AI agents using function/tool calling, multi-step workflows, RAG, and prompt engineering.
• Work with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar AI-agent frameworks.
• Integrate external systems using REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth2, API keys, and service accounts.
• Implement secure handling and storage of API keys, credentials, and other sensitive information.
• Containerize and deploy self-hosted services using Docker and Docker Compose.
• Monitor application logs, troubleshoot issues, and maintain deployed services.
• Apply security best practices when developing AI-agent workflows, including protection against prompt injection and unsafe tool execution.
• Separate read and write operations and implement confirmation mechanisms for potentially sensitive or dangerous actions.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented Python code and develop appropriate tests.
• Troubleshoot API, integration, data-processing, and application-related issues.
• Work collaboratively with developers and other team members in a remote environment.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for developed solutions and integrations.

Remote Work – Special Instructions

• This is a full-time remote position. Candidates must be willing and able to work full-time from a remote environment.
• Candidates must have a reliable internet connection and a suitable computer/workstation for software development.
• Regular online meetings, communication, and collaboration with the development team will be required.
• Work activities and performance may be monitored in accordance with company policies and remote-work procedures.
• Candidates must be comfortable working independently, managing their working time, and meeting assigned deadlines.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
• Candidates with strong practical development experience and a relevant technical background may also be considered.

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Python development.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining real-world applications or integrations.
• Practical experience integrating AI/ML models and AI agents into applications.
• Experience working with APIs, connectors, automation, or data synchronization.
• Experience working with self-hosted AI services will be an advantage.

Required Technical Skills

• Python: Minimum 3 years of professional experience.
• FastAPI: Strong hands-on experience is mandatory.
• Open WebUI (OWUI): Practical experience with Tools, Functions, Pipelines, or OpenAPI tool servers.
• MCP: Experience developing MCP servers and connecting them with Open WebUI.
• AI Agents: Practical experience with function/tool calling, multi-step workflows, RAG, and prompt engineering.
• LangChain / LangGraph: Experience with either framework or similar AI-agent frameworks.
• API Integration: Strong knowledge of REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth2, API keys, and service accounts.
• Docker: Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, deployment, service updates, and logging.
• AI Security: Understanding of prompt injection, tool safety, access control, and secure handling of AI-agent actions.
• Git: Experience with version control and collaborative development.
• Testing & Documentation: Ability to write tests and maintain clear technical documentation.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Microsoft Project (MS Project) or MS Project-related integrations.
• Experience with OpenProject APIs, connectors, plugins, or integrations.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other SQL databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience deploying and maintaining self-hosted applications.
• Previous experience working in a fully remote development environment.
