Assistant Backyard Manager

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Backyard Manager at our fresh potato packing site in Boston, Lincolnshire.

Shift & Hours of work: Monday to Friday - Fixed Shift / 08:00hrs to 16:30hrs

Salary: Hourly paid position - based on experience

Responsibilities

• Manage Backyard daily operations, ensuring yard is organised.
• Manage team and Stock Control in the Grading and Cold storage areas
• Manage rota, make sure all absence is covered
• Cover end of month stock take in absence of stock controller and Stocks, Grading and Backyard Manager.
• Ensure a healthy, safe and clean working environment at all times.
• Ensure all Forklifts are kept clean, and any maintenance issues are reported to the Engineering Team and the nominated Forklift service company.
• Ensure that any new employees are integrated into the workforce effectively
• Attend the daily meetings to plan daily grading requirements, and contribute to the meeting with actual grading results as required
• Ensure all paperwork required to be completed by Forklift Drivers and Grading Area Supervisors is completed in an accurate and timely manner.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a production or food manufacturing environment is advantageous
• Effective leadership skills, with a proven ability to inspire and mentor a diverse team.
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities to enhance efficiency.
• Strong communication skills to build rapport with team members and management.
• Ability to remain calm in a busy environment
• Flexibility of working hours to assist with cover of Team Leaders absence when required (this may involve some weekend working or earlier starts/later finishes).
