The Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute is one of the three national artificial intelligence institutes that form the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy. This position has an initial appointment of 2 years.

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

The Health Technology and Policy Unit (HTPU), School of Public Health undertakes applied policy research commissioned by provincial and federal governments. The principal role of this position is to support the Unit’s role in the provincial government’s Health Evidence Reviews Program. This position is expected to (1) contribute to the production of health evidence reviews as per negotiated contribution agreements with sponsors. (1) support the administration and development of activities of the Unit.

  • Undertaking extraction of data from published and grey literature sources
  • Tabulating these data and prepare synthesis reports, in order to meet prescribed deadlines as agreed to with sponsors
  • Completing systematic and scoping reviews and meta- analyses as needed
  • Performing interviews as needed on specific projects, interpreting and synthesizing findings
  • Managing and cleaning administrative health data
  • Performing basic quantitative analyses (e.g., descriptive statistics, inter-group comparisons)
  • Preparing graphs and charts for presentation in reports and slide decks
  • Assisting in manuscript preparation
  • Preparing regular project status reports as required by sponsors
  • Facilitating the addition of new financial sponsorships and cooperative agreements for the Unit
  • Managing project timelines and ensuring that prompt and superior service is delivered to sponsors and interested parties
  • Acting as liaison with external parties on matters relating to the procurement of services and materials for research and development activities
  • Speaking on behalf of the Unit's Director as delegated
  • Dealing with vendors and suppliers of services and supplies to the Unit
  • University degree (post graduate degree preferred), preferably in health sciences or business management. Additional training in management and problem solving techniques would be an asset.
  • Five or more years combined experience in managing technical personnel, students and complex activities. These experiences should be gained in areas of organization, research and development, and teaching.
  • Five or more years of broad and well-rounded technical experience, predominantly in a research environment.
  • Knowledge and experience dealing with various levels of government and private sector companies.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of computer software.
  • Basic knowledge of database management and information systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and computing skills. Flexible, professional and willing to take initiative.

This position offers a comprehensivebenefits package with an annual salary range of $65,369 to $73,544.
