This role is part of Alcon's Finance, Accounting, & Audit function, a team that advances Alcon's financial strategy and ensures fiscal responsibility as we transform the eye care industry.

The Tax & Statutory Accounting Manager is responsible for the end-to-end ownership of statutory accounting, tax accounting, financial reporting, and compliance activities for the Czech and Slovak entities. The role ensures full compliance with local accounting regulations, tax legislation, and IFRS requirements while delivering accurate financial statements, statutory reporting, and tax filings.

As the primary subject matter expert for tax and statutory accounting matters, the incumbent leads statutory audits, oversees income and deferred tax accounting, performs statutory adjustments, and ensures the integrity of financial reporting and internal controls.

In this role, a typical day will include:

Tax Accounting & Compliance

• Own the calculation, accounting, and reporting of current and deferred income tax.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of corporate income tax, VAT, and other statutory tax filings.
• Review transactions and accounting treatments to ensure compliance with Czech and Slovak accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Assess the tax and accounting implications of new business activities, transactions, and regulatory changes.
• Prepare tax provisions, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and related disclosures.
• Liaise with tax authorities, external tax advisors, and auditors on tax matters.
• Monitor legislative developments and ensure timely implementation of regulatory changes.

Statutory Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Lead all statutory accounting activities for the Czech and Slovak entities.
• Prepare and post statutory accounting adjustments required under local GAAP.
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and key profit and loss accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare statutory financial statements in partnership with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with local statutory reporting requirements and IFRS standards.
• Provide accurate and timely financial information for Group reporting and management reporting purposes.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes and reporting quality.

Audit & Internal Controls

• Lead the statutory audit process and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
• Coordinate audit planning, documentation, and responses to audit requests.
• Manage the resolution of audit findings and implementation of corrective actions.
• Ensure a robust internal control environment through regular reviews, reconciliations, and compliance assessments.
• Identify financial reporting, compliance, and control risks and drive mitigation actions.

Stakeholder Management

• Partner with local and regional Finance teams, Shared Service Centers, and business stakeholders on accounting and tax matters.
• Provide expert guidance on statutory accounting, IFRS, tax compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
• Build strong relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in statutory accounting, tax accounting, financial reporting, and audit.
• Strong knowledge of Czech statutory accounting requirements and local tax regulations and also Slovakian one.
• Proven experience with corporate income tax, deferred tax accounting, VAT compliance, and statutory reporting.
• Demonstrated experience preparing statutory financial statements and leading external audits.
• Solid understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
• Fluent English (written and spoken) is required.
• Czech language proficiency is highly desirable.
