Role Overview
We are looking for a talented and motivated Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our development team. The ideal candidate will work closely with developers, product owners, and engineering stakeholders to deliver high-quality features from the product backlog in an Agile environment.
The role involves both manual and automated testing, with a strong focus on test automation, continuous quality improvement, and early identification of defects. The successful candidate will contribute to ensuring product reliability, functionality, and overall quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manual & Functional Testing
- Review product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to understand expected functionality.
- Design, develop, and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test plans.
- Perform functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing.
- Validate new features and enhancements against defined requirements.
- Identify, document, and report defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
2. Test Automation
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for application features and workflows.
- Identify suitable test scenarios for automation to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
- Maintain and enhance existing automation suites.
- Execute automated tests and analyze results to identify potential defects.
- Contribute to the development of reusable automation components and testing frameworks.
3. Agile Development & Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, product owners, and other engineering stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with development teams to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Support early identification of quality risks during feature development.
- Provide timely feedback on defects and quality concerns.
4. Defect Management & Quality Improvement
- Log, track, prioritize, and retest defects throughout the development lifecycle.
- Perform regression testing to ensure existing functionality remains stable after changes.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring defects where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, testing processes, and product quality.
- Support continuous quality improvement across development and release cycles.
5. Release Validation & Documentation
- Support release testing and validation activities.
- Maintain test documentation, test execution reports, and defect records.
- Validate bug fixes and enhancements before release.
- Communicate test results, risks, and quality observations to relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to improving testing standards and QA best practices.
Required Technical Skills & Competencies
- Experience in Software Quality Assurance and software testing.
- Strong understanding of manual testing concepts and methodologies.
- Experience with functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing.
- Understanding of test case design, test planning, and defect management.
- Exposure to test automation and automated test script development.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Ability to interpret business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
