Role Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join our expert-led Allianz Commercial team as a Construction Underwriter.
You will be at the heart of key broker relationships, with a primary focus on retaining and developing our existing Construction portfolio. Working closely with brokers and internal stakeholders, you will deliver strong underwriting outcomes, excellent service, and sustainable growth across the account.
You will support the development of a world-class, multi-niche Insurance & Engineering offering, contributing to ambitious regional growth targets.
Location: This role is based in either of our Birmingham or Bristol offices, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that you attend the office 2-3 days per week.
Salary Information
Pay: Circa £40,000 per year.
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
- Manage and retain an existing Construction portfolio, delivering timely, accurate and profitable renewal terms
- Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy
- Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships through regular engagement
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business
- Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and key business initiatives
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations, and Risk teams
- Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings
Essential Skills
- Experience in construction underwriting, including casualty/liability covers
- Strong understanding of existing business and renewals
- Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with brokers and negotiating outcomes
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex risks and market conditions
- Commercial awareness with a focus on profitable growth and retention
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to support and mentor others

- Proactive and driven with a strong focus on personal and professional development
- Ability to take initiative and contribute positively within a team environment
- Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage
