Estimator - Commercial Electrical Construction

We're seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a growing commercial electrical contractor serving the Houston area. In this role, you'll prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects while managing the bidding process from plan review through project handoff.

The ideal candidate has a proven background in commercial electrical estimating, a strong understanding of electrical systems and construction documents, and the ability to develop complete, competitive bid packages in a fast-paced environment. Experience estimating healthcare, education, industrial, municipal, and other large commercial projects is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects.
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from electrical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Solicit, evaluate, and analyze vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Develop complete bid proposals, scopes of work, clarifications, value engineering recommendations, and pricing summaries.
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, and cost-saving opportunities before bid submission.
• Coordinate with general contractors, suppliers, engineers, architects, and internal project teams throughout the bidding process.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope review meetings as required.
• Support project turnover by providing complete estimating documentation and bid details to the operations team following project award.
• Maintain historical cost databases, estimating records, vendor relationships, and pricing information.
• Manage multiple bids simultaneously while consistently meeting deadlines.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial electrical estimating experience.
• Experience estimating commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, institutional, or municipal electrical construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, NEC requirements, construction methods, drawings, and specifications.
• Proven experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and developing complete, competitive bid proposals.
• Proficiency with electrical estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or similar platforms.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple bids and perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Residential-only estimating experience is not sufficient for this role.
