AlphaHire is a United States recruiting agency focused on the construction and skilled-trades labour market, placing superintendents, project managers, estimators and engineers with contractors nationwide. It works for commercial, residential and industrial builders in metros from Boston and Memphis to Houston, Naples and Nashville, running searches on behalf of client firms rather than employing the placed staff itself. The agency also publishes labour-market analysis through its Workforce Intelligence Lab, which tracks compensation trends, contractor growth and workforce scarcity across the construction industry.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead heavy civil and utility infrastructure projects from preconstruction through final closeout.

The ideal candidate has a strong background with a heavy civil general contractor or mechanical contractor and proven experience managing projects involving water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, utility infrastructure, municipal construction, and industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage heavy civil and utility infrastructure projects from preconstruction through completion and final closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, cost forecasts, and execution strategies.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, labor productivity, billing, cost control, and profitability.
  • Coordinate Superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, contract administration, and project documentation.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with owners, municipalities, engineers, consultants, and company leadership.
  • Identify project risks and develop proactive solutions to minimize schedule delays, cost impacts, and field issues.
  • Support field operations by ensuring crews have the equipment, materials, information, and resources needed to maintain production.
  • Coordinate project activities between office and field teams to ensure efficient execution.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, safety regulations, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Support commissioning, punch-list completion, project turnover, and final closeout.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, municipalities, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and project partners.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Project Management experience in heavy civil or mechanical construction.
  • Experience with a heavy civil general contractor or mechanical contractor is required.
  • Proven ability to manage projects from startup through final closeout.
  • Experience with water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, utility infrastructure, industrial facilities, municipal projects, or similar heavy civil work is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, scheduling, contract administration, procurement, and field operations.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, labor management, cost control, billing, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while effectively coordinating office and field teams.
  • Must reside within approximately one hour of Nashville, Tennessee.
  • Residential or light commercial construction experience alone will not be considered.

Benefits

  • $90,000-$120,000 annual salary, with flexibility for highly qualified candidates.
  • Weekly pay.
  • Company truck or $1,000/month vehicle allowance.
  • Company fuel card.
  • Health insurance available immediately upon hire.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Stable pipeline of heavy civil and utility infrastructure projects.
  • High level of project ownership and leadership responsibility.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
  • Long-term career growth and advancement opportunities.
