The role
ALS Geochemistry is looking for Maintenance Officer to join our facility in Gander, NL
Working in a close-knit team, you will report to the Branch Manager and assist with routine maintenance, fixing equipment and attending to breakdowns as required.
This full-time role will be responsible for:
Routine maintenance of all sample preparation equipment.
Building and fabrication of laboratory equipment.
Carrying out preventative maintenance.
Maintaining equipment.
The successful applicant will receive on-the-job training in all aspects of routine laboratory equipment maintenance to ensure they fully understand the task while also complying with ALS HSE policy.
A high level of communication will be required in this role, as the successful candidate must promptly liaise with section supervisors and facility management regarding equipment issues or downtime.
This role allows the employee to expand their skill base into maintaining and repairing all on-site equipment.
The essentials
Trade qualifications are not necessary. However, previous experience with power tools & equipment on a professional or personal level is essential.
Mechanical aptitude is essential.
Welding and fabrication experience is highly regarded but not essential.
Excellent work ethic.
Committed to a safety culture while maximizing productivity.
The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision whilst being committed to the work of a team.
Ability to manage stock and reorder supplies as needed.
Hold a valid driver’s license.
Proven ability to handle a busy and diverse workload.
