The Indirect Commodity Manager leads strategic sourcing, supplier management, and commercial contracting activities across key indirect spend categories, including Engineering Services, Contingent Workforce, Outsourcing, Managed Services, IT, Facilities, HR, Professional Services, Marketing, and Corporate Services.
This role partners closely with business stakeholders to deliver cost-effective, compliant, and scalable solutions while driving supplier performance, risk mitigation, operational efficiency, and business value.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and be able to balance strategic initiatives, tactical execution, and project management responsibilities. This individual will help build and mature procurement processes, policies, governance, and stakeholder communication frameworks while supporting Altera's continued organizational growth and transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute category, sourcing, and supplier strategies aligned with business objectives, budget targets, and risk management requirements.
Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including requirements gathering, market/spend analysis, RFx events, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract execution.
Negotiate and manage complex commercial agreements, including MSAs, SOWs, outsourcing agreements, contingent workforce contracts, software agreements, and professional services engagements.
Partner with ,HR, Finance, Legal, IT, Information Security, Facilities, Engineering and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver cost-effective, compliant procurement solutions.
Develop sourcing strategies for contingent workforce, managed services, and outsourcing engagements, including supplier selection, rate benchmarking, workforce optimization, governance, and compliance.
Own strategic supplier relationships and performance management for key suppliers, including Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), executive-level supplier engagement, performance scorecards, innovation discussions, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Drive supplier accountability through governance frameworks, service-level monitoring, issue resolution, and strategic roadmap alignment.
Identify and deliver cost savings, cost avoidance, supplier consolidation, and value creation opportunities across assigned categories.
Monitor supplier performance, financial health, market trends, labor market dynamics, and commercial risks to proactively identify opportunities and mitigation plans.
Develop and enhance procurement policies, procedures, templates, and controls to improve efficiency, compliance, audit readiness, and stakeholder experience.
Support organizational stand-up activities, procurement transformation initiatives, contract lifecycle management, supplier governance, and process standardization efforts.
Lead and manage procurement-related projects while driving stakeholder communications, change management, and cross-functional alignment.
Operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment, balancing strategic sourcing, commercial contracting, tactical execution, project management, process development, and stakeholder communications to support the continued growth and maturation of Altera's Procurement organization.
Collaborate with Finance and business stakeholders on budgeting, forecasting, supplier investments, affordability initiatives, and cost reduction roadmaps.
Support sustainability, supplier diversity, regulatory compliance, and responsible sourcing initiatives.
The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number offactors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

8+yearsofprogressiveprocurement,strategicsourcing,supplychain,vendormanagement,orcategorymanagementexperience,withsignificantexperiencemanagingindirectspendcategories.
Proven experience developingandexecutingsourcingstrategiesacrossoneormoreindirectcategories,includingEngineeringServices,ContingentWorkforce,ManagedServices,Outsourcing,IT,ProfessionalServices,Facilities,Marketing,HR,andCorporateServices.
Strongexpertiseinstrategicsourcing,suppliernegotiations,contractmanagement,andcommercialdealstructuring.
Demonstratedexperiencenegotiatingcomplexagreements,includingMasterServiceAgreements(MSAs),StatementsofWork(SOWs),softwarelicensingagreements,professionalservicescontracts,outsourcingagreements,andcontingentworkforcecontracts.
Experiencemanagingcontingentworkforceprograms,managedserviceproviders(MSPs),staffingsuppliers,andoutsourcedserviceproviders.
Strongfinancialandanalyticalskillswiththeabilitytoconductspendanalysis,costmodeling,supplierbenchmarking,businesscasedevelopment,andtotalcostofownership(TCO)evaluations.
Provenabilitytoidentifyanddelivermeasurablecostsavings,costavoidance,supplierconsolidation,processimprovements,andvaluecreationinitiatives.
