Software Architect

Job Title

The Software Architect within Professional Services is responsible for designing, governing, and enabling customer-specific software solutions that extend and integrate with Amadeus products and platforms. The role connects customer business requirements, product capabilities, and engineering implementation to deliver scalable, secure, maintainable, and commercially viable solutions.

The Software Architect provides technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle, from pre-sales support and solution design through development, deployment, transition, and operational handover. Acting as a trusted technical advisor, the role drives architecture consistency, supports delivery success, and promotes the adoption of best practices across customer engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture and Design

• Define end-to-end solution architectures aligned with customer business requirements and Amadeus product strategy.
• Design integration patterns between customer environments and Amadeus platforms, ensuring alignment with functional and non-functional requirements.
• Produce architecture blueprints, technical designs, and implementation roadmaps to support successful solution delivery.
• Establish architecture standards, design principles, and best practices that promote scalability, performance, resilience, maintainability, and security.

Customer and Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to understand business objectives, challenges, and technical constraints.
• Translate business requirements into practical and commercially viable technical solutions.
• Present architecture recommendations, technical options, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Facilitate workshops, discovery activities, and architecture reviews throughout the customer engagement lifecycle.

Technical Leadership and Delivery Enablement

• Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to development and delivery teams across solution implementation activities.
• Support complex technical decision-making, review solution designs, and ensure alignment with architecture principles and standards.
• Promote the reuse of existing platform capabilities, services, and proven solution patterns where appropriate.
• Mentor engineers and technical leads, fostering architectural knowledge sharing and engineering excellence.

Delivery Governance and Risk Management

• Support project teams during implementation, deployment, and transition to operational support.
• Identify technical risks, define mitigation strategies, and support issue resolution throughout delivery.
• Ensure alignment across architecture, development, testing, operations, and support teams.
• Contribute to successful project outcomes through effective governance, design oversight, and stakeholder collaboration.

Continuous Improvement and Technology Evolution

• Participate in architecture governance forums, design reviews, and technical decision-making processes.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Contribute to architecture roadmaps and technology evolution initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve customer solutions and Professional Services capabilities.

Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience in software architecture, distributed systems design, and customer-facing solution delivery environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), integration patterns, microservices, event-driven architectures, security, and data integration technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions, guide cross-functional teams, and communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Customer-focused and delivery-oriented, with strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to balance business and technical requirements.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments and supporting large-scale transformation or implementation programs.
• Skilled at managing architectural risk, driving solution quality, and promoting engineering best practices.
• Continuous improvement mindset with a passion for technology evolution, knowledge sharing, and building scalable, sustainable solutions.
