Overview
Amadeus is a Spanish travel technology company founded in 1987 by Air France, Lufthansa, Iberia and SAS to build a European alternative to the American airline reservation systems. It now operates one of the two dominant global distribution systems connecting travel agencies to airline, hotel and rail inventory, and it also sells the passenger service systems that airlines use to manage reservations, inventory and departure control. Headquartered in Madrid and listed there, its revenue moves closely with global travel volumes, which made it one of the most exposed large technology companies during the pandemic.
