Amazon is an American technology and retail conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It operates the world's largest online marketplace together with a global logistics network, physical grocery stores and a third-party seller platform that accounts for most units sold. Amazon Web Services, launched in 2006, is the leading public cloud provider and generates the majority of the group's operating profit, while advertising, Prime Video, Alexa devices and Kuiper satellite broadband round out the business.

Join AWS as we invest NZ$7.5 billion in New Zealand over the next 15 years. We're looking for a Technical Account Manager to join our Enterprise Support team and work directly with New Zealand's most ambitious Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) as they build, scale and innovate on AWS.

As a TAM in our ISV segment, you'll be the trusted technical consultant for software companies that are shaping industries across New Zealand and beyond. You'll help ISV customers architect for scale, optimise their cloud operations and accelerate their product roadmaps on AWS. Your day will involve conducting application reviews, leading operational readiness assessments, driving adoption of AWS services that unlock new capabilities and presenting insights at business reviews that influence customer strategy.

This isn't a reactive support role. It's a consulting role where you earn trust through deep technical expertise and deliver measurable impact. You'll work across the full customer lifecycle, from onboarding and migration through to optimisation and innovation, solving complex technical challenges alongside some of the sharpest engineering teams in the country.

You'll be part of a growing Enterprise Support team in New Zealand, backed by the depth of AWS's global technical community. You'll develop your skills across cloud architecture, security, cost optimisation and operational excellence while contributing to Technical Field Communities and earning AWS certifications.

If you want to work at the intersection of cloud technology and software innovation, and you're ready to have a direct impact on how New Zealand's ISVs build and grow, we'd love to hear from you.

Key job responsibilities

- Serve as the primary technical advisor to ISV customers, helping them architect, optimise and scale their software products on AWS

- Conduct Operational Reviews, operational readiness assessments and architecture deep-dives tailored to SaaS and multi-tenant workloads

- Drive operational excellence across customer environments by identifying risks, reducing cost and improving reliability before issues impact production

- Lead technical discussions on incident management, trade-offs and risk mitigation, translating complex scenarios into clear recommendations for both engineering teams and senior leadership

- Proactively identify opportunities to accelerate customer outcomes through AWS service adoption, cost optimisation and architectural improvements

- Deliver business reviews that provide actionable insights, track progress against customer goals and strengthen the strategic relationship

- Collaborate with AWS Solutions Architects, Business Developers, Professional Services and Account Managers to deliver coordinated support across the customer lifecycle

- Enable customer teams through targeted workshops, hands-on labs and technical enablement sessions that build lasting cloud capability

- Lead service event reviews and pre-launch planning to ensure customers are prepared for critical launches and operational milestones

- Engage with stakeholders across all levels, from platform engineers to CTOs, earning trust through technical depth and consistent delivery

A day in the life

No two days are the same, but here's what a typical day might look like.

Your morning starts by reviewing operational dashboards and findings across your customer portfolio, identifying any emerging risks before they become incidents. You notice one customer's database latency has been trending upward and flag it for a deeper review later in the week.

Mid-morning, you lead an Well-Architected Review with a SaaS customer who is preparing to expand into a new market. You work through their multi-tenant architecture, identify areas where they can improve resilience and reduce cost, and leave them with a prioritised set of recommendations they can action immediately.

Over lunch, you join a cross-functional call with the account team to plan an upcoming business review for one of your largest ISV customers. You pull together operational insights, service adoption trends and risk reduction metrics to ensure the review delivers real strategic value.

In the afternoon, you run a hands-on workshop with a customer's engineering team on observability best practices, helping them instrument their platform so they can detect and resolve issues faster. This is the kind of enablement that builds lasting capability and earns trust.

Later, you spend time preparing a pre-launch review for a customer about to release a major product update. You assess their architecture for readiness, review their scaling strategy and ensure their operational runbooks are solid before go-live.

Between meetings, you're contributing to your Technical Field Community, reviewing a SpecReq from a colleague and catching up with your ESM on a customer risk you've been tracking. Every day is a mix of deep technical work, strategic thinking and relationship building.
