Quantum Research Scientist

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Research Scientist. Location: Pasadena, California, USA

Responsibilities:

• Design and conduct experiments to characterize the impact of environmental and material noise on qubit performance.
• Develop experimental measurement techniques to improve qubit dynamics and overall device performance.
• Automate data collection to ensure statistically significant experimental results;
• Analyze measurement data and prepare clear technical reports and presentations for the research team.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, materials scientists, and circuit designers to implement improvements that reduce the effects of noise.
• Contribute new research ideas and remain up to date with advances in experimental quantum computing.
• Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team of physicists, engineers, and scientists.

Qualifications:

• Experience programming in Python, Java, C++, or a related programming language.
• Experience working with SQL and relational database management systems (RDBMS) or data warehouses.
• Strong background in experimental measurement techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
• Strong engineering principles, resourcefulness, and a proactive approach to solving complex problems.

Preferred:

• Experience implementing algorithms using both existing toolkits and self-developed code.
• Publications in leading peer-reviewed journals or top-tier scientific conferences.
• Demonstrated record of original scientific research contributions in quantum computing or a related field.
