Amazon is an American technology and retail conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It operates the world's largest online marketplace together with a global logistics network, physical grocery stores and a third-party seller platform that accounts for most units sold. Amazon Web Services, launched in 2006, is the leading public cloud provider and generates the majority of the group's operating profit, while advertising, Prime Video, Alexa devices and Kuiper satellite broadband round out the business.

Application deadline: Oct 13, 2026

Are you passionate about leading a critical high-impact, growing systems and software development team? If so, join us! This role is responsible for leading a global team accountable for prioritizing, planning, executing, and managing build and development projects across a suite of tools, which serve the builders of AWS Infrastructure. This program includes but are not limited to: feature and service builds, technology migrations, legacy architecture deprecation, integrations with other AWS teams, and new tooling onboarding.

A Software Development Manager at Amazon understands the larger AWS Infrastructure picture (i.e., telecommunications infrastructure, datacenters, customer needs, business opportunities, and problems to be solved), facilitates connections to customers, and guides the team in using the working backwards process to ensure the right solutions are developed and prioritized. This role is tactical and strategic: it is responsible for identifying strategic opportunities that solve tactical problems, and knowing when to invest in one over the other to deliver the greatest impact with the smallest investment.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

Key job responsibilities

Telecom Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of telecom infrastructure technologies (including Fiber, DWDM, IP etc), expertise in building OSS/BSS GIS Geospatial systems, their architecture, and their role in ensuring efficient operations.

Lead the end-to-end software and systems development process, including requirement gathering, design, development, UAT, and deployment of all new systems and features. Drive the creation of high-quality features that meet user needs and exceed expectations.

Cross Collaboration: Work closely with business, Optical, Border Engineering, and Network Operations to ensure seamless and timely execution of the product roadmap. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages effective communication and problem-solving.
