Amazon is an American technology and retail conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore and headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It operates the world's largest online marketplace together with a global logistics network, physical grocery stores and a third-party seller platform that accounts for most units sold. Amazon Web Services, launched in 2006, is the leading public cloud provider and generates the majority of the group's operating profit, while advertising, Prime Video, Alexa devices and Kuiper satellite broadband round out the business.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for experienced and motivated technologists who possess a unique balance of technical depth and strong interpersonal skills. As a Solutions Architect, you will partner some of the world's largest financial services companies, AWS Sales and several other AWS teams to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud architectures that address customer business problems and accelerate the adoption of AWS services.

In collaboration with sales, you will drive revenue growth across a small set of systemically important global financial services customers. As a trusted customer advocate, the solutions architect will help these organizations understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, and how to migrate existing workloads to the cloud. You will have the opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of AWS within enterprise customers. This role supports accounts with active migration pipelines and growing AI/ML engagement, requiring an SA who can maintain technical continuity across in-flight workloads while positioning AWS's generative AI and machine learning capabilities.

The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in software, technology sales or consulting. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical for a solutions architect. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges. The ideal candidate will bring depth in AI/ML and generative AI, with the ability to guide customers through complex migration programs and position AWS as the target platform for modernization at scale.

Here are some other qualities we are looking for:

Be great fun to work with. At AWS, we have a credo of "Work hard. Have fun. Make history". In this role, you will love what you do and instinctively know how to make work fun. You will be dynamic and creative, and willing to take on any challenge and make a big impact.

Enjoy working with large, global customers. You will have a passion for educating, training, designing, and building cloud solutions for a diverse and challenging set of enterprise customers.

The ideal candidate will have worked as a solutions architect within a Financial Services company (preferably) or other regulated industries. They will have demonstrated industry domain and solutions expertise throughout their career. They possess a deep understanding of various software development methodologies, including CI/CD, DevOps, and MLOPS. They should also have hands-on experience with AI/ML workloads, including model deployment, inference optimization, and generative AI solution architecture.

Key job responsibilities

In partnership with the broader account team, develop technical elements of the strategic plan for accelerating adoption of AWS across the customer's lines of business.

Solutions Architects own the overall technical relationship between customers and AWS and make recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability and operational efficiency.

Educate customers of all sizes on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud

Conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers considering or already using AWS

Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support

Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community

Author or otherwise contribute to AWS customer-facing publications such as blog posts and white-papers

Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customers to enable them to be cloud advocates

Architect solutions leveraging AWS technology, including solution development and potentially demonstrate technical feasibility through mechanisms including proof-of-concepts and/or prototype

Travel may be required for this role, up to 25%

A day in the life

Your mornings might start with a stand-up alongside your account team, aligning on what's happening across your customer's engineering groups this week. From there, you could be in a working session with customer architects sketching out how a new ML inference pipeline could run on AWS, or reviewing an RFP response with your sales counterpart.

You'll be the person your customer calls when they need a trusted technical opinion, whether that's evaluating the right approach for modernizing a legacy application or figuring out how to operationalize a generative AI use case. Some weeks you'll be heads-down building; other weeks you'll be presenting architecture options to a room of senior technology leaders.

This role sits at the intersection of financial services domain expertise, hands-on cloud architecture, and AI/ML. Expect to partner closely with AWS specialist teams and service product teams when opportunities call for deeper expertise in areas like security, data analytics, or generative AI.
