Lead Firmware Software engineer in Multimedia / Camera
THE ROLE:
AMDis looking for aninfluential software engineer who ispassionate about improving the performance of keyapplications and benchmarks. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talentedindustry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to lead the architecture, development, and optimization of safety-critical firmware for next-generation Automotive ISP platforms. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define and drive firmware architecture for automotive ISP and camera processing platforms.
- Design, develop, optimize, and debug embedded firmware in C for real-time, safety-critical systems.
- Lead development of device drivers, interrupt handling, DMA, memory management, boot flows, and hardware abstraction layers.
- Drive hardware-software integration, platform bring-up, and system-level debugging.
- Collaborate with silicon, Linux drivers, safety, and validation teams to deliver robust firmware solutions.
- Lead technical reviews and drive engineering best practices.
- Identify technical risks and execute mitigation strategies across complex programs.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership.
- Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products
- Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture
- Participating in new ASICand hardware bring ups
- Debugging/fixexisting issuesand research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work
- Develop technical relationships with peers andpartners
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 14+ years of embedded software or firmware development experience.
- Expert-level proficiency in Embedded C and real-time embedded systems with ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail
- Automotive ISP firmware and camera processing pipelines.
- ARM Cortex-R52 architecture and multicore systems.
- Hands-on experience with SafeRTOS or other safety-certified RTOS environments
- Device drivers, interrupts, DMA, memory management, and boot loaders.
- Experience with Image sensors and ISP hardware interfaces
- Hardware-software integration and platform bring-up
- Performance optimization and profiling.
- Debugging using JTAG, Lauterbach Trace32, or any other embedded debugging tools.
- Experience withmodern concurrent programming and threading APIs
- Experience with software development processes and tools such as source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
- Effective communicationand problem-solving skills
- Motivatingleaderwith good interpersonal skills
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor’s or Master'sdegree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
